Description de l'organisation
Lesvos Solidarity (LESOL) is a grassroots organization rooted on the island of Lesvos, Greece, where the realities of forced migration intersect with the challenges of geopolitical borders. Born in 2012 out of a community-led response to the arrival of thousands of refugees, transforming urgent humanitarian work into sustainable programs that combine humanitarian aid, education, psychosocial support, and environmental action. Its mission is to provide dignity and opportunity to people on the move and to local residents facing economic precarity, while building bridges of solidarity across diverse communities.
Our activities combine education, empowerment, and ecological innovation. At the Mosaik Centre, refugees and locals attend language classes, creative workshops, and cultural events. The Safe Passage Bags workshop upcycles over 5 tons of discarded lifejackets, dinghies, and tents each year into thousands of products, while training and employing refugees and vulnerable locals to gain job skills and income. The Selamet housing programme offers shelter, psychosocial support, and empowerment opportunities for women and families at risk, linking safe accommodation with mentoring and advocacy.
