Les Jardins de Macabou is an organic farming project dedicated to creating a fruit forest inspired by permaculture and syntropic agriculture. Guided by the ethics of permaculture – care for people, care for the planet, and fair share – our vision is to regenerate degraded land, foster biodiversity, and promote resilient food systems. Since its creation, over 5,000 fruit trees have been planted, turning a degraded area into a thriving ecosystem. We combine them with perennial edible plants, aromatic and medicinal herbs, small-scale animal husbandry, and beekeeping, progressively shaping a mature food forest.
Our priority is not only production but also research, experimentation, and the transmission of sustainable agricultural and lifestyle models. That is why we regularly welcome international volunteers, offering hands-on learning and co-creating a shared vision for a regenerative future. We also design and deliver educational activities such as introductory permaculture courses, workshops on soil regeneration, and training sessions in sustainable living. The farm has grown into a retreat center where trainings and workshops take place – always focused on care (for oneself, for the earth, for others) and promoting tolerance, inclusion, solidarity, and participative knowledge-sharing.
Our main target groups is youth (more or less 75% of our volunteers), individuals in professional transition or social reintegration, and anyone seeking to learn about agroecology.
