The Scout Association of Slovenia (ZTS) is the country’s largest voluntary youth organisation, rooted in the values of the WOSM. We support the personal development of young people through experiential learning, teamwork and outdoor education, helping them grow into responsible, self-reliant and active citizens. Our programmes offer non-formal education, volunteering and leadership opportunities for youth aged 7–30, with a clear learning path from beginner roles to high-responsibility leadership in a safe and inclusive environment. In Bohinj, within Triglav National Park, ZTS runs a scout centre and campsites hosting thousands of young people each year, in groups of up to 40 on ca. 10-day programmes. Local and international volunteers support youth camps, training courses and community projects. Activities range from canoeing, cycling and hiking to environmental actions such as maintaining meadows, removing invasive species and promoting the sustainable use of natural resources. The kitchen of our scout centre also becomes a place of intercultural exchange, where volunteers and young people prepare meals together, share traditions and learn about sustainable food practices. These activities turn Bohinj into a unique meeting point where young people from Slovenia and abroad connect, learn and build solidarity. For many, it is their first time paddling a canoe, building a bivouac or sitting around a campfire – moments of joy and wonder that create lifelong memories.
