Project description

We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer (from DE/IT/PT/PL/HU/CZ/AT/ES/FR ONLY) to support the work of Bryson's Family Services. The main role for the volunteer will be within the Lisburn Bryson Sure Start project, supporting the Sure Start staff in working with children under the age of 4 and their parent(s). Main Volunteer Tasks: - Supporting staff in planning daily activities for the project - Assisting with the preparation of rooms, materials, refreshments - Assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of group work activities with children, young people and/or parent(s) - Assisting with developmental play activities with individual children - Assisting staff at home visits, especially through play activities with the children - Participating in team meetings, planning and other relevant meetings - Adhering to required policies and procedures - Other tasks as and when required Sending Organisations have already been identified for this project.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will live in a shared house with Erasmus+ volunteers who are based in other projects. S/he will have their own bedroom and will share the living room, kitchen and bathroom. The house will be in South or East Belfast. Bryson European Volunteers receive cash each week as food and pocket money and have access to cooking facilities in the volunteer house. The volunteer will live in Belfast and will travel each day by train to their project in Lisburn. The project pay for the train ticket.

Training during the project

The volunteer will receive induction and orientation training on arrival. This will include practical information, including registration with the doctor and library. The volunteer will then go to their project where they will receive project specific and role related training. This will include relevant policies and procedures of the organisation and necessary training such as child protection. There may be opportunities for further role-related training throughout the placement, depending on what external and internal training is available.

Volunteer profile

The volunteer MUST be from one of the countries listed (Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Czech, Austria, Spain, France) - we are unable to accept volunteers from countries which are not listed. We are seeking an enthusiastic volunteer with a keen interest in working with young children. Ideally the volunteer should have good English language skills from the beginning. Applications from male volunteers are especially welcome.
