“Montessori and Friends” operates several institutions in and around Berlin. The International Montessori School offers a bilingual concept (Englisch – German) and it’s team consists of international employees. Currently 60 children from 5 to 12 years are enrolled in the school. The children can be supervised and taken care of from 7.30 am to 6 pm. The pedagogical concept is based on the principle of progressive education created by Maria Montessori as well as the latest pedagogical insights. Children and teachers have a close relationship characterized by trust, shared experiences, and intensive communication. Students develop learning strategies and take responsibility for themselves and others. They discover their need to learn actively. The school is closely located to the Montessori Kinderhaus am Wannsee, operated by the same organization. Due to its location, a lot of time and focus is spent on the surrounding nature and environment.

Zakwaterowanie, wyżywienie i transport

Accomodation is in a shared apartment probably with another volunteer. Your daily travel time to work might be up to one hour (per direction) by train, because Berlin is a large city. You will be provided with a monthly ticket for local public transport. You will receive a monthly payment for grocery shopping.

Szkolenia w trakcie projektu

Tasks you may perform: - Supporting the children in their daily tasks (during class lessons, private tutoring during home work) - Accompanying the children during school hours and leisure time (trips, events,…) You will learn: - Democratic education in everyday life - Learning and teaching with all senses - Self-reflection of you own development - Getting to know a new working environment - Change of roles from learner to educational tutor

Profil wolontariusza

Volunteers should... - possess basic knowledge of the German language and very good knowledge of the English language (C1) - be interested in (Montessori) pedagogy and working with children - have some creative, technical, sports and/or musical skills
