The future of mountain areas: challenges and opportunities

On the occasion of the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development, we aim at establishing an intergenerational and cross-border dialogue between different actors living in mountain areas in Europe.

We wish to create a platform of dialogue between young people and stakeholders from their regions to discuss the most pressing issues regarding climate change in mountain areas. Young people are the main target group of the event. They will get the chance to discover what is being done in mountain regions so as to increase their engagement and local civic participation.

As a follow up from the meeting, we will draft a document with recommendations and best practices to be implemented at the local level in order to build a European-wide network of young people living in upland regions.
