Are you curious whether participation in the Erasmus+ Programme influences students to become more engaged in society and more likely to vote? Discover the findings in this report published by the Erasmus Student Network.
Days before the EU elections, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has launched a breakout report from the XV ESNsurvey, aiming to determine whether participation in international mobility, particularly through the Erasmus+ Programme, was a decisive factor in making students more engaged in society and more likely to participate in the recent EU elections.
Through the report 'Participation in Learning Mobility as a driving force to change the EU', dive into the following findings:
1. Before and After Mobility – Erasmus+ Students’ Citizenship
Students with mobility experience feel strongly connected to Europe and the world as a whole, to the EU and their own country, underscoring the transformative power of mobility experiences.
2. Voting Intention in the EU Elections
A vast majority of mobility participants eligible to vote expressed interest in exercising their voting rights, showing a positive indication of young people's engagement in the EU elections.
3. Importance of EU Policies
Regarding the priorities for Parliamentary candidates and the next Commission, the participants highlighted the importance of exchange opportunities, digital transformation, the role of Europe in the world, and freedom of movement.
It's crucial that EU citizens acknowledge the success of what's considered one of the most successful EU initiatives. This reflection is even more pertinent as negotiations for the new Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the next edition of the Erasmus+ Programme resume during the next months.
