Ready to travel across Europe by train for free? The new application round for DiscoverEU is officially open!
Ever dreamed of hopping on a train and discovering Europe's vibrant cities, rich history, and stunning landscapes? DiscoverEU, an action of the Erasmus+ programme, is giving young people the chance to do just that!
Applications for the Autumn 2026 call are open on the European Youth Portal from 1 October at noon (CET) until 15 October 2026 at noon (CET).
To apply, you must:
- Be born between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2008 (inclusive);
- Be a citizen or resident of an EU Member State (including Outermost Regions), an Overseas Country or Territory (OCT) associated with the EU, or an Erasmus+ associated country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, or Türkiye);
- Have a valid ID card, passport, or residence permit number on your application.
If you win, you will have the chance to travel between 1 and 30 days (max 7 days on train), anytime between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028. Plus, you will also receive a DiscoverEU discount card with reductions on cultural visits, learning activities, sports, local transportation, accommodation, food and much more!
And if you want to travel with your friends, you absolutely can if they meet the eligibility criteria and you submit the application together.
If you have a disability or health-related issue that could potentially impact your travel experience, don't worry, because you will receive further assistance and support.
Want tips from people who've already done it? Connect with the DiscoverEU Ambassadors in the DiscoverEU Facebook Group.
You can also meet other travellers there, share your plans, organise meet-ups, and get inspired.
