Space and youth: give a name to the new EU’s space-based secure connectivity system

Τελευταία ενημέρωση Τρίτη, 07/06/2022

The European Year of Youth goes beyond our planet! Imagine what if you personally could give a name to the newest space-based project developed by the European Union to bring high-speed internet and secure communication services in Europe, Africa and beyond?

The European Commission has just launched a competition inviting students from the EU and African Union countries to propose a name for its space-based secure connectivity system.

Alongside Copernicus and Galileo, this new system will be the third pillar of the EU’s Space Programme bringing satellite data and services to address the most pressing issues of today: climate change, green and digital transitions, security and resilience.

The competition is held under the patronage of European Commissioners Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the Internal market and Space, and Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

Why to participate?

In light of the European Year of Youth 2022, the competition is a great opportunity for young people with creative and original ideas to find a name that captures the spirit of this new initiative, its technological innovation, and its EU-Africa dimension. A chance to become part of the European space adventure!

The winning proposal will be announced later this year. The winner(s) will be invited to the closing event of the European Year of Youth, as well as to an immersive day in the EU institutions.

Don’t wait anymore and submit your proposals by 31 July 2022 the latest.
