What can be done across the EU to protect the environment?

Make climate priority of all decision-making. Stopping climate change NOW is a precondition to all life on earth. All the decisions that are made have to be environmentally sustainable. Make new laws that demand governments to act on climate crisis. Make Europe to run solely on green energy as does e.g. Costa Rica. There is no other option than act now, no matter the cost.

I totally think that the environmental education for all the generations will help. We need to inverst more in this through formal, non formal and informal education to raise the awareness among comunities. There are so many specialist in this world that can improve different activities and workshops in so many ways and we must act now! It will be great to make mandatory lessons of ecohealth, ecological footprint, reduce-reuse-recycle and environmental protection. It would be amazing if each country will be obliged to recycle a minimum percentage of their waste and to use high fees for not selecting the garbage.

Pressure authorities to support zero-waste consumption and carbon footprint reduction. Reduce distance between waste collection and waste recycling/upcycling. Incentivize the emergence of early-adopting communities of breakthrough eco-friendly practices, within urban settlements, small and big.

To invest more in the environment workers. There are many biologists unemployed or working in different fields. If they are hired, they could contribute actively with their ideas and carry them out.

In our school we are carrying out an interdisciplinary project, Plastic Free A Guarda, involving our 12-year-old students, their families and the shops in the area. Our aim: making them aware of our responsibility as consumers in general and reducing the use of single use plastic bags and packages in particular.

As teachers, we must try to make ou students aware of how important this issue is, make them feel part of the problem and know that there are many things they can do. They will be the consumers and householders of the future.

From the time that we will take out of our minds the obsolescence of goods and stop being materialistic, then we will be able to save this world. Sustainability development must be promoted.

Educate both the youth and grown ups on environmental issues so people would wake up to make changes in their lives. Banning plastic bags and restrictions on the usage of plastic in general would also be useful since plastic is really harmful to the environment, not just the making process but when left in nature too.

I think what' more importante is to educate young people what's going on with the enviroment and little ways to help it. And we can do that in a funny way by catching some teenagers and do a theater to informe the youngest generations with the help of the older ones.
