The school has room for 139 students with a fairly equal balance between girls and boys. The students come from a variety of backgrounds both financially, socially and academically and all are welcome to apply to the school for the 9th or 10th grade. The students live and study at the school for one year only. The students must understand that they will be living away from home for the best part of a year and are expected to participate in a small community, where teamwork is very important considering that the students live, work, clean and eat together at the school.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The school will provide live-in accommodation for the volunteer which comprises of a two-bedroom apartment with en-suite facilities including a bathroom, tv, internet, a little fridge and hot-plate. Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) will be provided during the week and the volunteer will have the option to join the students for meals at the weekend, too. However, there are no kitchen facilities available to volunteer, but our kitchen staff can cater for allegeries and particular dieatry requirements. There is also a gym at the school and leisure centres with swimming pools nearby.

Participant profile

Age +21 Interest in foreign languages, with a preference for knowledge of French, Spanish, or Italian You need to select a specific sending organisation(SO), since we have special agreements with some partner organisations. Motivation, adaptability and flexibility will be the key factors when deciding on any volunteer. However, we prefer that the volunteer has had at least some experience working with youngsters.
