KCAT Arts Centre
CAMPHILL COMMUNITIES OF IRELAND
KCAT Arts Centre
Callan, County Kilkenny, Ireland
Description
KCAT Arts Centre has been hosting and coordinating volunteers through the European Voluntary Service, and now the European Solidarity Corps, since 2010. Volunteers support tutors and students in our classes and programmes and lots more. They bring life and fun in to KCAT and really enrich the lives of our students. They also share their own culture and language and learn all about Ireland and the people. We aim to recruit for 3 ESC volunteers. Volunteering placements will be from September 2021 until July 2022. KCAT is a multi-disciplinary Arts Centre dedicated to the fostering and nurturing of creative ambition and professional development in the arts. We believe that everyone, regardless of background, age, gender or ability should have access to a creative world – as students, participants, artists or audiences. KCAT was founded in 1999 and has continued to grow, develop and evolve according to demand and need since then.
Gisting, fæði og ferðatilhögun
Volunteers will be offered a single room with a host family near KCAT. A good level of spoken English is required as much of our work requires the ability to communicate and build relationships with students and participants. We recommend that volunteers are at an intermediate level. Volunteers will also be given time off to discover Ireland and visit volunteers based in other projects. KCAT is open during the school year.
Training during the activity
Each ESC volunteer has the support of a dedicated mentor and supervisor. Beyond benefiting the host Services, young volunteers can develop new skills and improve their personal, educational and professional development. Volunteers can benefit from specific training throughout their activities and agree on their expected learning outcomes, processes and methods in advance. The ESC learning experience is formally recognised through a Youthpass.
