European Solidarity Corps

The power of together

Get involved in a non formal education organisation- ART

i-PEICC peuple et culture

Ipeicc

Montpellier, France

Description

Main part of the volunteering will combine artistic creation, development of an artistic practice, and co-facilitating cultural workshops and activities for young people and children. Volunteer will get the opportunity to explore artistic professions, visit cultural places and exhibitions, participate in regular workshops and be involved in a team of young French volunteers. Focus will be made on contemporary art and plastic arts. The volunteer must have an interest in sharing an artistic practice (mediation and discovering other practices). Another part of the volunteering will be dedicated to organize street workshops on topics decided jointly, aimed at local residents. An extra part of the volunteering will be dedicated to promotion of European volunteering programmes, sharing their experience and culture. Finally, the volunteer will have to participate in local solidarity projects where he/she will be living in and in community events organised by i.PEICC in the Mosson district.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

A single room in a shared flat, a 10-minute walk from the organisation. The district called “Mosson” or “Paillade” is really interesting for its multiculturalism, dynamism and solidarity actions led by inhabitants and organisations. Average income, employment rates and social diversity are low; there could be trash in the streets and the district can give a feeling of insecurity. A welcoming neighbourhood that the city considers it as a high priority area benefiting from urban regeneration where efforts are being made to improve the living conditions: housing, social diversity and employment.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will be participating in the on-arrival and mid-term trainings organised by the National Agency, if possible. He/She will be registered on the on-line linguistic support proposed to all European Solidarity Corps volunteers. He/She will be in regular contact with his/her mentor in the hosting organisation and with his/her mentor in the sending organisation. A welcoming time, trainings and support to help him/her in his/her integration and activities will be organised.
