Volunteering with Concejalía de Juventud Cartagena
ASOCIACION CULTURAL EUROACCION MURCIA
Ayuntamiento de Cartagena
Cartagena, Spain
Description
Volunteer activities will involve 30–38 hours per week. More information about the project can be found at: https://app.smore.com/n/02zg4-volunteering-with-youth-department. Completing the online application form available there is strongly recommended to take part in the selection process. Volunteers will support the staff of the Youth Department in a variety of activities, including the development of youth programmes, workshops, and leisure activities. They will contribute to creating content for social media, promoting and disseminating youth initiatives, and supporting socio-cultural activities involving children and young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities or at risk of social exclusion. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to develop a personal project aligned with their interests, values, identity, and professional goals.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will live in a shared flat in Cartagena with other volunteers. Each volunteer will have a private room to ensure comfort, privacy, and personal space. The coordinating organisation will cover the rent and utility bills throughout the project. In addition, the project provides food support (€184 per month), pocket money (€186 per month), local transport, medical insurance, and travel costs from the volunteer’s place of residence to Cartagena and back, in accordance with the European Solidarity Corps programme rules.
Training during the activity
The volunteer will take part in the On-Arrival Training and Mid-Term Evaluation organised by the Spanish National Agency. These activities are a mandatory part of the European Solidarity Corps programme and provide participants with guidance, support, and opportunities for intercultural learning. They also offer a space to reflect on the volunteering experience, share experiences with other volunteers, and evaluate personal and professional development throughout the project.
Participant profile
This project is open to young people aged 18–30 who have not previously participated in a European Volunteering Service (EVS) or European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteering project. Priority will be given to young people with fewer opportunities, in line with the inclusive values of the programme. The selection process will be based mainly on the candidates’ motivation, attitude, and willingness to actively participate in the project. We are looking for young people who show a genuine interest in youth work, social inclusion, and community engagement, as well as a strong commitment to the values of solidarity, intercultural learning, and active citizenship. Candidates who demonstrate responsibility, initiative, creativity, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be particularly valued. Previous experience is not required. Basic knowledge of Spanish is appreciated, as it can facilitate communication and integration into the local community, but it is not a mandatory requirement.
