Description
A participant will be volunteering in kindergarten DC Hlavička, supporting the local community. The participant activities are: working directly with kids in the kindergarten by organizing educational activities and games, teaching English language, bringing ideas and work on personal project of own choice, help with daily running of the kindergarten and with organizing community events, a little of administrative work, cooperating on other activities with the staff. Hlavička is a small kindergarten in the heart of Bratislava situated in the family house. It offers family atmosphere in which small kids are being taught how to be independent, respectful to their friends and environment. It also welcomes children with other mother tongues than Slovak. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
BDC as coordinating organization provides you an accommodation. The room will be in a flat shared with other volunteers, presumably in a shared room with 1 another person. The flat is fully furnished and will provide participant with everything he/ she needs. BDC hands food arrangement support, pocket money to a volunteer according to the standard of living in the hosting country. Training during the activity
Training is directly related to the skills and knowledge necessary for a particular job. BDC will take care of Orientation training (first days after arrival) and provides a Slovak language course. You are obliged to attend On-arrival training organized by the National Agency. BDC organizes for volunteers educational program to acquire new knowledge and skills in socio-environmental awareness issues to become an active citizen. There are mandatory coaching session meetings provided. At the end, a participant receives the Youthpass certificate.
Participant profile
In this project, we are looking for someone ready to take up new challenges, who likes to work with children. He/she should be enthusiastic about growing their personal and professional skills and prepared for unexpected experiences. Ideally a participant is at least 21 years old. Training in childcare or experience in work with children is an advantage but not necessary. Required qualities include: flexibility (work with children requires good adaptability to changes), creativity, open-mindedness, empathy, self-reliance, responsibility for assigned tasks and communication skills in English.
