Join the team as a volunteer at Mansfeld-Löbbecke-Stiftung
Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband Niedersachsen e.V.
Mansfeld-Löbbecke-Stiftung
Goslar, Germany
Description
The Mansfeld-Löbbecke Foundation is working in the field of children and youth welfare and has its HQ in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony. Our target groups are children, adolescents and young adults with mental/psychic illnesses. As a volunteer in our organisation we can train you in our individual housing projects for teenagers and young adults: In the individual housing project, young people from the age of 16 and young adults can live in their own apartments rented for them. You as a volunteer accompany the young people in their everyday lives. The tasks within the volunteering can be divided into the following areas: care, everyday accompaniment and housekeeping. You support the specialist staff in their day-to-day work within the housing projects. This includes, among other things, accompanying the young people in their leisure activities, therapy offers and doctors appointments. Housekeeping duties are a minor part in everyday work and can consist of meal preparation.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
As a volunteer you receive free accommodation from the Mansfeld-Löbbecke Foundation, a €49 ticket for local transport, pocket money and a flat-rate meal allowance, so that the costs of living should be completely covered. An on-call service is available to you within the Mansfeld-Löbbecke Foundation. The on-call service is available 24/7/365. You receive a fixed contact person as a mentor and are instructed by specialists within the individual housing projects.
Training during the activity
During your activity you'll be part of a multi-professional team of the invidual housing projects in Goslar and will be involved in the daily routine and activities. You can learn to improve your communication skills and critical thinking skills. You’ll get to know the youth welfare service in Germany, experience the many tasks in a housing project that offers care for the young adults and you will meet a variety of different people. We offer a language-course for learning German and there will be two ESC seminars in the course of the volunteer activity.
Participant profile
Most importantly you should enjoy connecting and working with people, especially children, teenagers and young adults. You should be interested in social engagement. You are reliable, responsible and committed. It might be helpful, but not necessary, if you have basic skills in the german language and practical experience in childcare or a pedagogical/social education. For the assignment as a volunteer in our facility it is mandatory to submit an European certificate of good conduct and proof of two vaccinations against measles before arrival.
