ABC Children's Aid is a charity established in 1988 and is an Icelandic non-profit organization emphasizing support to children in developing countries. The aim is to provide permanent support to children through donations from Icelanders. ABC gives poor children a chance to learn and helps street children to a new life by providing them with a home and education. To support this work the ABC Children’s Aid has established a 2nd hand market for new and used goods. People donate goods which are then resold and the profit used directly to support the children. The market sells new and used products for a good price. The market is also frequently visited by people browsing, sitting down to read a book and to communicate with staff and volunteers. The market is not just a shop but also a place for people to socialize.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
The volunteer will live in a flat in Reykjavík with other AUS volunteers and possibly share a room with another volunteer of the same gender. It‘s also possible that the volunteer will live with a Icelandic host family, in which case s/he will have a separate room. Food or food allowance will be provided.
Formação durante a atividade
The volunteer will receive an On-Arrival-Training at the beginning and a Mid-Term-Evaluation after half of their time.
Perfil do participante
The volunteer should be 18-30 years old, positive and highly motivated to participate in group activities. Skills and competencies: Ability to organize on her/his own initiative; Ability to work under time pressure; Time-management skills; Linguistic skills: English and or German spoken is necessary Technical skills: Social media, Microsoft Word and Outlook. ! Volunteers must have a clean criminal record.!
