Description

!! Please apply via https://www.icja.de/content/freiwilligendienste/programme/esk-dein-europaeischer-freiwilligendienst !! Samtökin '78 - The National Queer Organisation of Iceland, founded in 1978 - is an organisation for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, their families, friends and supporters. The organisation aims at ensuring lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people visibility and recognition and that they enjoy equal rights to other members of society. The beneficiaries are not only Icelanders, but people from all over the world, so there is also a strong international feeling in the everyday activities, which is one of the reasons why having a full time young volunteer in the office has the potential to be highly beneficial for both parties.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

The volunteer will live in a flat in Reykjavík with other AUS volunteers and have a private room or maybe share a room with another volunteer of the same gender. The project does not offer food so the volunteer will receive food money if they live independently.

Training during the activity

The volunteer will receive an On-Arrival-Training at the beginning and a Mid-Term-Evaluation after half of their time.

Participant profile

No specific educational or professional background is required from the volunteer, only an honest motivation to be a part of an organization such as Samtökin ´78. Some desired traits are open-mindedness, flexibility, enthusiasm, but also patience and empathy. The volunteer should be willing to work in a dynamic environment, to come up with and implement their own ideas, but most importantly to be open for learning and growing within the project
