Oltre i confini: sostenere centri per disabili in Estonia

The coordinating organization offers you the chance to volunteer in different center for adults and children with severe mental and multiple disabilities. Some of the beneficiaries are quite independent, they go to work and, when they're at home, they cook and clean by themselves. You can help them with these activities, and any suggestions for leisure time are welcome. In other centres, you will be assisting teachers during various occupations and workshops done together with the beneficiaries. You can offer your own activities for the beneficiaries: they dance, walk, sing, play board games and organize events and art workshops. You can learn about Estonian social system, alternative communication, organization of celebrations, functions and seminars. It will be a great opportunity and challenge for you to learn something about yourself.

Διαμονή, διατροφή και έξοδα μετακίνησης

You will stay in a shared apartment with other volunteers. You will receive monthly food and pocket money. All work-related transport will be covered by the programme. The travel from Italy to Estonia and back is fully reimbursed. An insurance company will protect you from any risk.

Κατάρτιση κατά τη δραστηριότητα

You will attend three official training sessions: a pre-departure training before leaving Italy; an on-arrival training in a few weeks after your advent in Estonia; a midterm training, around the half of the volunteering experience. All special techniques used with the target group will also be taught to you if you are interested in learning.

Προφίλ συμμετέχοντος

You should be motivated to work with people with disabilities. You must be committed to the service, independent, active, positive, open minded, with sense of responsibility, flexible and ready to learn new things. It would be good if you have previous experiences in the field, but it is not determining fact in the application process. You should be open to use creative methods while communicating with the clients because some of them do not speak any verbal language. Basic English is required.
