Description
APRODEH has 4 offices (Lima, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Huancavelica) and experience in the defence and promotion of human rights. It prioritises strategic litigation and strengthens the capacities of women's organisations, LGBTIQ people, Andean producers, people with disabilities and victims. Thematic priorities: gender, agroecology, historical memory, social and political advocacy. The volunteer will be based in Lima, will support in the coordination of activities with the person in charge of the DESCA Area, and will liaise with the venues for: -Organisation of the Human Rights Congress (mixed format) definition of contents, call for papers, thematic roundtables, creation of spaces for exchange with participants. -Design and implementation of portfolios on regional training experiences and prioritised contents. -Organisation of face-to-face and virtual reflection activities (internal and with allies) that contribute to the training and reconceptualisation of the human rights agenda
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers will live in accommodation in safe area with all the necessary conditions (single bedroom with key, access to individual or shared bathroom, living-dining room, kitchen, laundry, quality internet, kitchen utensils and refrigerator). It will be located close to the office so that they can walk or take a short bus ride. Transport to and from the activities is covered. Safe conditions, access to market, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, restaurants, etc. Accommodation in fully payed by the project. Diet: A variety of products is available in Lima including vegetarian and vegan options.
Training during the activity
As part of their insertion, volunteers will be trained on institutional issues in general and in greater depth on those prioritised for the congress (food security and sovereignty, climate change, water resources, gender justice, self-protection, care and healing), democracy and human rights. Complementary tools: OLS for languages and Youthpass for competencies.
Participant profile
Ideally, the volunteer should share values with the institution around the respect and promotion of human rights, equity and solidarity. Interest in contributing to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people. Volunteers are preferred to have studied sociology, political science, anthropology. With interest in learning and understanding Peruvian culture and basic knowledge of human rights, particularly in the prioritised themes. With management, study, networking and social media content development skills. Ideally with knowledge of Peru or Latin America.
