Jugendwerk der AWO Württemberg (JW) is a nonprofit Organization located in Stuttgart, Germany with the focus on non-formal education, intercultural projects, youth camps and projects for children and young people. The main objective is to support young people in their process of personal development and education besides school and university to improve social, educational, (inter)cultural and other skills and competences. The aim of JW is to improve tolerance, solidarity, self-determination and democracy in our society. The main activities of JW are seminars in non-formal education, youth travel, international youth work and the coordination of local projects and groups. The target groups are children and young people from 7 to 30 years with a focus on the age of 18 to 27 years. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Jugendwerk will arrange free accommodation in a student residence 2 minutes’ walk from the Jugendwerk office, with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities and your own furnished room. You will receive monthly pocket money and food allowance according to ESC guidlines. Additionally, we provide a "Deutschlandticket" for public transport in all of Germany and access to a bike for transportation around the city.
Training during the activity
During your volunteering you will attend two trainings organized by the German National Agency (on-arrival and mid-term training). Your hosting organisation is also organizing different kind of seminars (pedagogical one, first aid etc.) - you will for sure have the possibility to join other trainings and seminars during your volunteering.
Participant profile
You are our perfect volunteer, if you are open-minded, reliable, like to show your own initiative and are flexible; are interested in intercultural work and are motivated for intercultural projects; like office work, like writing emails, creating flyers for events, helping with sending letters and like being responsible for materials and stuff for seminars and camps etc.; have basic computer knowledge and experience with social media; have language skills in English and/or German; have a driver’s license and are comfortable driving regularly; are available for the whole duration of the project for 12 months from 14.10.2024 - 13.10.2025.
