Would you like to be part of an expanding makerspace community? Are you passionate about technologies, such as 3D printing and laser engraving? Do you want to experience how the makerspace and NGO area operate? Valmiera Development Agency - Makerspace Dare, in collaboration with the Valmiera Region Community Foundation, is offering an opportunity for one young individual to spend 8 months (01.09.2025.-30.04.2026.) in Valmiera, Latvia, through the European Solidarity Corps program. Makerspace DARE started its work on February 28, 2020. It is the first co-creation space (makerspace, citylab) in Valmiera county. DARE provides: (1) equipment and tools, (2) space to work on new and creative ideas, (3) the ability to develop prototypes, and (4) creative workshops to learn new skills and knowledge. Essentially, a makerspace is a "manufacturer's room" a place where like-minded individuals can meet, share creative ideas, build products, and exchange ideas.

Work schedule: The volunteer will work approximately 30-36 hours per week, with Saturdays and Sundays as free days. Travel reimbursements: Based on distance calculator. Accommodation: Accommodation will be provided in a rental apartment or a student hostel in Valmiera city together with other volunteers, 1-2 same gender persons per room. We provide each volunteer with a Latvian phone number and fast internet plan. Pocket & food money: You will have a pocket money allowance 5 eur per day. Additionally, You will get a food allowance 7 eur per day.
Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit
Training and support: Upon arrival in Latvia, You will receive a full orientation of Your hosting and also leading organisation in Latvia, as well as all-included trainings in other locations, organized by Latvian National agency. Same goes for mid-term training. Upon arrival, Your project leading organisation will offer you an online Latvian language lessons. Your voluntary project leading organisation will issue You a certified and referenced Youthpass at the end of Your project.

We are seeking for an energetic, creative, and sociable young individual (age 20-30) who is eager to fully engage in the makerspace and NGO environment. If you are open-minded, proactive, communicable, enthusiastic about learning, and passionate about technologies and equipment, we would be thrilled to welcome you here! TECHNICAL SPECIALIST DUTIES IN MAKERSPACE DARE WORKLOAD: PART-TIME (6 hours per day) Handle customer orders as well as lead and support hands-on workshops on various projects. Operate and manage technical equipment such as 3D printers, vinyl cutter, heat press, laser engraver, CNC machine, and more. Provide guidance and consultations to customers on using the makerspace equipment. Participate in organizing and leading practical workshops for school groups. Participate in communication activities related to makerspace equipment and other related topics.
