Description

You will support the accounting and financial management of the Mission, contributing to the closure of basic accounts and importation into the accounting software and to the consolidation of monthly accounting data and correct archiving of financial documentation. You will also support the financial management of local partners, carrying out analyses of partnerships procedures and local partners and mapping their strengths and weaknesses, and participate in their training on administrative and financial management methods in building their capacities. You will also contribute to the technical reinforcement of the Finance office, supporting it in supervising and training the administrative staff of the Mission; assisting with it reporting activities as needed and reviewing the donor database. You will write and publish articles and collect audiovisual materials describing the experience of volunteers in the ESC Humanitarian Aid Volunteering project.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

A monthly Subsistence Lump Sum will be provided to cover basic needs such as food and personal hygiene items. Accommodation, travel costs, visa, pre-deployment medical check + vaccinations (if mandatory for the country), allowance will be covered. In case of need, a Fewer Opportunities Support will also be covered.

Training during the activity

The ESC Humanitarian Aid Volunteer will attend online before, and on-site induction at the arrival to her/his deployment Mission. Training during deployment will also be offered to improve the volunteer’s skills and competences.

Participant profile

You are fluent written and spoken French and have a good knowledge of English. Studies in Economy, Sociology, Political Science, or Statistics and Knowledge of development/humanitarian context in low-income countries particularly in West Africa. Knowledge of budget management, accountancy. Knowledge of main donors’ procedures. Training facilitation skills for various stakeholders. Open-mindedness, teamwork, flexibility and communication. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
