Tur Cos Ta Posibel is deeply active in KIA, the prison of Aruba, through ESC Volunteering projects both in long-term and TEAM activities. BAM (acronym for Barbering, Art and Mechanics) is going to be a 3 weeks project that aims to engage the young detainees (age 21-30) of the male department of KIA with both professional and recreational activities. After the successful previous editions of AMIS and FAIS (check on our website), BAM is going to be a TEAM ESC project where Sports and Artistic activities like a mural in the sport ground will be delivered alongside more professional development activities such as Barbering and Mechanics, that will help the young inmates in their future professional life outside the prison.
Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten
Living in shared house with between 4 and 5 people in our community house. Volunteers will receive a bank card with a food allowance so they can buy and prepare their dinners and meals (breakfasts & lunches – in KIA) and purchase household necessities. The accommodation is well located, 5 minutes’ walk from a local beach and with all the appliances and equipment needed for self-catering. Towels will be provided. TCTP will cover economy flights with hand luggage and a van will be provided for getting to and from KIA. Economy flights with hand luggage will be booked on your behalf.
Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit
During the project there are going be many occasions to share knowledge and experience in a non formal way. The goal itself of the project is gonna be to exchange knowledge and skills between the international volunteers and the young inmates, with the goal of inspiring and learning from each other. You will learn and share your skills. Please note we will only consider volunteers who apply through our website and we will not respond to applications on the ESC database.
Teilnehmerprofil
The volunteers we're searching for should, as a first requirement, demonstrate a strong adaptability and empathy. Additionally they should have at least one of the following skills. Having more than one is a plus! • Mechanic skills • Barber skills • Artistic skills IMPORTANT!!! : No automatic applications will be taken in consideration.
