Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) is an NGO dedicated to empowering communities in Northern Ghana through inclusive development. The Vocational Skills Coordinator volunteer will support the planning, coordination, and implementation of vocational training projects to enhance employability and entrepreneurship for youth and marginalized groups. The role involves engaging with trainees, trainers, vocational institutions, and local stakeholders to improve access to quality vocational education. Responsibilities include organizing skills programs, facilitating career guidance, supporting monitoring and evaluation, and contributing to stakeholder collaboration, capacity building, and awareness campaigns that promote vocational training as a pathway to economic independence and sustainable livelihoods.
Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten
GDCA provides accommodation in a furnished one- or two-bedroom self-contained flat with essential utilities, including water, electricity, internet, and satellite TV. Volunteers will have basic kitchen facilities to prepare meals. Alternatively, meals can be purchased from restaurants or vendors with caution. Transport for official duties is provided, but personal travel expenses are the volunteer’s responsibility. Local taxis and tricycles are available for commuting. Foreigners can drive but must obtain an international driver’s license.
Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit
As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills.
Teilnehmerprofil
We are looking for a passionate and motivated volunteer who is eager to contribute to vocational skills development and community empowerment. No formal work experience is required, but some background in education, training, social work, or project coordination would be helpful. Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Interest in vocational training, youth empowerment, or community development. Experience in organizing activities, mentoring, or working with diverse groups (formal or informal). Strong communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn, adapt, and engage with local communities. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, etc.) are a plus. Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
