Street Art Festival in Lądek Zdrój - bringing art to the flood-hit town

STOWARZYSZENIE JEDEN SWIAT

POZNAN, Poland

Description

Lądek-Zdrój is a small, historical Polish Sudety mountains resort town located just a stone’s throw from the Czech border. In the fall of 2024, it was one of the areas heavily damaged by a devastating flood. The destruction is still visible, but the residents are striving to restore their space and create a fresh start for life. One such effort is the revival of an annual Street Art Festival Lądek-Zdrój that had been organized every year before the flood. The event showcases local artists, workshops, and lectures aimed at promoting street art. The volunteers' main tasks will consist of two key components. The first involves general assistance in preparing for the festival, focusing on logistics and technical support. This work will also continue throughout the festival. The second component is more creative—volunteers will participate in crafting sculptures made of cardboard, reinforced with materials, which will later be displayed in the city.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteers will be accommodated in shared rooms at a local hotel. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at the hotel. The hotel is located around 20 minutes walking from the office and an equal distance of 20 minutes from the main town space. Lądek-Zdrój is surrounded by natural landscapes and it is one of the historical spa resorts in Europe. The organizers recommend taking the swimming suits and stronger shoes with you as they want to provide local trips to fully enjoy the charms of the city.
