The volunteer will accompany the CDRO staff on visits to local communities, supporting them in identifying crops suitable for sustainable hydroponic production. They will also contribute to the design and implementation of a training plan on hydroponic crops to support CDRO agronomists. The volunteer will help to prepare training content and teaching materials for community promoters to disseminate agroecology and hydroponics. They will support the implementation of workshops with local producers through field practices and collaborate in the systematization of the pilot projects implemented. During the activities, particular attention will be paid to the participation of women from local communities.

The volunteer will live in Totonicapán near the municipal building in zone 1, surrounded by services such as markets and pharmacies. The organization covers rent and basic services such as electricity, water, and internet. The house has a single room and kitchen, is located on the second floor, and is 2 km from the office. The volunteer can buy food in local eateries or prepare meals in the kitchen. They can also bring food to the office. Local minibuses facilitate transportation in 15 minutes, and there are taxis and buses.

The volunteer will participate in initial training which includes: introduction to the CDRO team, for integration and support; orientation about CDRO, for explanation of objectives and projects; visit to the communities, to meet direct collaborators and beneficiaries. They will develop knowledge of humanitarian aid within the ESC program, solidarity cooperation, strategies to involve direct recipients. They will strengthen civic skills, intercultural awareness, problem-solving skills and linguistic knowledge (which will be certified through the OLS). All skills will be certified by Youth Pass.
Προφίλ συμμετέχοντος
Passionate about agroecology and sustainable production. A minimum of experience in agriculture is required, preferably with an agroecological approach. Professional experience as an agronomist or in related sciences is a plus but not mandatory, as is experience in hydroponic cultivation. Willingness to apply technical skills in different work contexts and eagerness to learn new agronomic techniques. Skilled in adult education methodologies and in developing teaching and support materials for community promoters. Able to work in teams and rural communities, with an aptitude for volunteering, a sense of responsibility, and organizational skills.
