Description
“Farfalle nella testa” was born in 2013 and It is a cooperative society in Bordano (Friuli Venezia Giulia) that deals with communication of science and public engagement with science. Since 2015 It runs the biggest and the most well known Butterfly House in Italy. The main activity will be outdoors: green maintenance & cleaning the lake shores in the area of ecomuseum and the trails in Bordano. (So the working days will be dictated by the weather). The aim of the project, in addition to helping the local community maintain green spaces, is to promote outdoor living and the well-being; for this reason, the volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in sports and creative workshops such as: rafting, bike ride, drum circle, flight approach and paragliding, ceramic and craft, guided tour of Bordano Butterfly House. Volunteers will carry out activities 5 days (4 day for activities and 1 extra activity) a week, for 6 hours a day.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
- POCKET MONEY: 17€ per day (the traveling expenses, visa and insurance costs are NOT included). - ACCOMODATION: the volunteers will live in 2 independent houses with double or triple rooms, bathrooms, a common kitchen, and a garden. (There is a possibility of two people sharing a double bed). After 1 month, a rotation of people between the two houses is required for Italian B&B regulations. Flexibility is necessary. - FOOD: the volunteers will cook through working shifts. - TRANSPORTATION: FNT provides cars only for transportation during work and extra activities of the project.
Training during the activity
The chosen people will get training on all required tasks. The tasks are practical and their impact will affect the improvement of the place. The basic information will be discussed together during training times, upon arrival, and during the month. Photos and videos will be required to document the activities during the months.
Participant profile
The profile of an ideal volunteer is a person who is available for the entire 2 months of activities and has strong adaptability. We are looking for a person who is willing to get their hands dirty and provide ideas to get the place better. - 18 - 30 yo - Resident or citizen of an EU country - Ready for Teamwork - Capacity to adapt to basic life conditions (shared rooms, limited shower time, etc) - Motivated and eager to learn - Adaptable and open-minded - Respectful of common rules - Loving nature and animals - Interested in sport activities and in getting to know the local community
