We are looking for two motivated volunteers eager to make a meaningful impact through ecological and creative action. The hosting organisation of this project is “ASOC. MIL Y UN BOSQUES DE CÁRTAMA”, a non-profit association based in Cártama, with a strong interest in ecology, nature and artistic expression and believing in the power of nature and creativity to foster personal growth and social change. Its aim is to contribute to the conservation of the flora and fauna of the area and its goal is to act as an educational platform and with reforestation and regenerative initiatives to teach sustainable practices to protect the local nature. The volunteers will collaborate in the following tasks: -Conservation of the garden and nature interpretation area; -Environmental awareness and dissemination campaigns; -Personal project/own initiative; -Supporting to the activities and projects of the coordinating organisation (Asoc. Iniciativa Internacional Joven): once a week.

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

The organisation is based in a rural area of Cártama, about 20 km from Málaga. Volunteers will live at the main venue where the association's activities take place, around 2 km from Estación de Cártama centre. Therefore, local transport will not be needed for daily tasks. Transport will be provided when activities are held at the coordinating organisation’s premises in Málaga. Volunteers will receive either breakfast, lunch and dinner or a food allowance, as well as a daily amount of pocket money and international travel costs according to the Programme’s rules and limits.

Formação durante a atividade

Volunteers will have the chance to deepen their knowledge on topics such as respecting the environment, promoting sustainable lifestyles and exploring the connection between art and nature. You will: -Learn and apply basic concepts related to the environment, permaculture and ecology; -Be able to apply your knowledge in new/unfamiliar contexts; -Develop the ability to work in intercultural, intergenerational and multidisciplinary groups; -Understand the environmental impact of human activities; -Learn about local environmental challenges; -Improve your Spanish and English.

Perfil do participante

We are looking for two European Solidarity Corps volunteers. One profile should have an interest in social media and communication, while the other should be more practical and hands-on. However, both volunteers will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide variety of tasks. We are looking for proactive, responsible and empathetic individuals with the following interests and qualities: a) Interest in permaculture, organic gardening, and sustainable living; b) Comfortable with manual work and eager to learn new practical skills; c) Willing to carry out both indoor and outdoor tasks, and not afraid to get their hands dirty; d) Open to living close to nature, surrounded by animals such as cats, chickens and dogs; e) Curious about zero-waste practices, upcycling and eco-construction; f) Motivated to help organise community activities and small events; g) Interested in holistic wellbeing practices like yoga and meditation; h) Passionate about social media, photograph, and creative promotion; i) Willing to improve or develop Spanish language skills.
