There is the opportunity for the volunteer to gain a wide range of experience and skills across the organisation. We are looking for a Conservation assistant - Wildlife Crime volunteer to join our international team for a duration of minimum 10 to 12 months. Wildlife crime fieldwork: Assistance is needed in our fieldwork in relation to ongoing wildlife crime related to hunting, trapping and illegal possession of protected birds. The main activity will be monitoring and surveillance during investigations. In addition, the rescue and care of birds during a rotating on-call system.

This is a volunteering opportunity under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) scheme, BirdLife Malta provide: • accomodation and cover all living costs for all year round • travelling expenses to Malta reimbursed • monthly allowance €380 • insurance
Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit
Conservation department staff will provide training to ensure that the volunteer learns: • how to detect illegalities on the maltese countryside • how to record illegalities and use optics and equipment • how to identify migratory and resident birds • how to communicate and engage in bird conservation • how to manage a group of volunteers • how to handle and rescue an injured bird • how to provide assistance during the rehabilitation process
