Sustainable Gardening at Waldorf School

Weöres Sándor Oktatási, Kulturális és Szabadidős Egyesület

Gödöllő, Ungarn

Beschreibung

Gödöllő Waldorf is opening a volunteering opportunity at one of the first schools of the Hungarian Waldorf movement. Our school was founded in 1991 in Gödöllő, the town outside of Budapest, home to the famous and popular castle that Sissi received from the Hungarians as a coronation gift in 1867. Today almost 250 children attend the eight classes of the school and kindergarten. Our school has been conducting organic farming for over 15 years, under the direction of experienced horticulture teachers. The school also has some goats, chicken and a sheep that the students take care of every day. Children also enjoy free play during the afternoon hours and they learn English and German as a foreign language. We are looking for a long term volunteer for the school months (Sept-June) who enjoys the company of elementary school children, speaks English and cares about our environment so that he is happy to take part in gardening activities!

Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten

Accommodation can be provided in the town of Gödöllő (30 min far from Budapest by suburban train) so visiting the capital city is easy and affordable. Our school children eat at a local caterer just 2 mins outside the school building but also streetfood facilities in Gödöllő downtown are about 10 mins by walk. Transportation within town is very convenient, there are buses, the suburban train and a rent a scooter service. Many of us use bicycles for local trasport.
