Together with young people from across Europe, you’ll explore fun and meaningful ways to make a positive impact in our community. This year, we’re teaming up with Idrija’s local community to revive its festive spirit. Inspired by Perkmandelc, the town’s playful mine elf, we’ll co-create decorations, stories, and experiences that mix tradition, creativity, and connection. Imagine turning quiet winter streets into a living storybook – with your ideas, hands, and heart at the center of it all. Through hands-on workshops, artistic expression, teamwork, and even shared cooking sessions, we’ll build a fair and festive village rooted in values like cooperation, sustainability, and justice. This is your chance to explore how creative action can shape community life in a joyful and meaningful way.
Zakwaterowanie, wyżywienie i transport
The accommodation will be provided at Hostel Idrija, a youth hostel managed by Idrija Youth Centre. Hostel is located 5 min walk from the historical town centre and features an amazing view with spacious summer terrace. Rooms will be shared by 2 or 3 volunteers, while the kitchen, living room area and bathrooms will be shared by the whole group. You as a group will be responsible for preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Slovenia is easily accessible. Each volunteer is entitled to a reimbursement of travel costs if using the public transport.
Szkolenie w trakcie działania
The volunteering activities will be carried out from 6 to 8 hours a day, totaling between 30 and 38 hours per week. Mentors and trainers will ensure a smooth working process and will be available for volunteers for everything during the activity. You will be guided through the entire process of EXPLORING, PLANNING and CREATING the decorations we planned and BRINGING YOUR IDEAS TO LIFE.
Profil uczestnika
We are looking for volunteers who are creative, proactive, innovative, open-minded, playfull, responsible, and sociable. If you enjoy working with your hands, have motivation and interesting, fun ideas on how to decorate a city for the local people from scrapped material and give Idrija a pleasant place to hang out, you are exactly what we are looking for! A good understanding of English and some experience in physical work, designing, event organization or video editing are desirable. The participants must be between 20 and 29 years old. There are no other conditions, so we gladly welcome people with all social, geographical, economic, cultural, educational, and other backgrounds.
