T.E.A.M. was founded in 2009 in order to protect the wild and natural life with the local community and youth in and around Mersin. The organisation especially care alot with the Sea-Turtles (Caretta-Caretta and CheloniaMydas), which leave their eggs on the coast of KazanlıMersin and are under the risk of extinction. They act as an EVS- ESC Supporting and Hosting organization, give training course to youths, build up awareness and European citizenship by volunteering. The organization is promoting international and intercultural values, also youth initiatives and projects in the local community. The turtles’ season ends in September so in the rest of the time the organisation gives more attention to create awareness about environmental protection, recycling, reusing, reducing among youth and children via theatrical plays, games, flash mobs, etc depending on the groups’ creativity. This is a bilateral project between France and Türkiye, taking place in Türkiye.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
Accommodation and board will be covered by the French National Agency. %100 of Travel costs (according to EU distance calculator) are covered by the French National Agency. The organisation will provide food and accommodation. The volunteers are responsible to cook their meal 2 by 2 on each weekday. The volunteer will be accommodated in 2 flats and share the common space and the bedroom mostly four people in one room. The flat is situated near the project area and has double bedrooms, kitchen, living room and all other facilities. There are mainly sufficient materials (internet, etc).
Formação durante a atividade
Activities from the weekly program: -Meeting with mentors and project coordinator discussion - briefing -Cleaning the coast where turtles lay their eggs (the main activity for 12 months) -Preparing media about environmental protection -Turkish Language support -Meeting with local people and informative activities about environment -Informative workshops – creating awareness about environmental protection, recycling, reusing, reducing among youth and children via theatre play, games, flash mobs depend on our groups’ creativity.
Perfil do participante
We are looking for enthusiastic, open-minded, and responsible volunteers who are motivated to work in a multicultural environment with turtles. Previous experience in non-formal education, youth work, or volunteering is an advantage but not a requirement. Volunteers should have a proactive attitude, be willing to learn and share, and demonstrate flexibility in dynamic situations. Basic English communication skills are necessary. Volunteers with a special interest in climate change, a sensibility to environmental issues and eager to sensibilize other people are especially encouraged to apply. We welcome all applicants regardless of their background and support inclusive participation.
