Community Support & Integration Volunteer

Zemljani -Are You Syrious?

Zagreb, Chorwacja

Opis

Are you Syrious? is a civil society organization that supports people on the move (asylum seekers and those under international or temporary protection). Our mission is to build a society based on dignity, solidarity and justice. Through education, advocacy, integration and humanitarian work, we promote inclusion and celebrate diversity. As a ESC volunteer, you will support our community-based activities in four key areas: • In the Free Shop, you’ll help provide essential items to people in need in a respectful, autonomous way. • In Employment Support, you’ll assist with workshops on CV writing and job applications. • Through Intercultural Workshops, you'll help bring together locals and beneficiaries to share experiences and learn from each other. • And in Communication, you'll help create content to raise awareness and promote solidarity.

Zakwaterowanie, wyżywienie i transport

We will provide accommodation for 2 volunteers, who will live together in a shared apartment with rent and utilities covered. For local transport, we will either provide a bicycle or cover the cost of a monthly public transport ticket, depending on the volunteer’s preference and needs. Volunteers will also receive monthly pocket money to cover food and personal expenses.

Szkolenie w trakcie działania

Upon arrival, volunteers will receive an onboarding presentation from their supervisor, in which they will be introduced to the organization’s work and the topic of migration. In addition, volunteers will participate in an introductory on arrival training session organized by the National Agency. Throughout their stay, volunteers will have access to online Croatian language course. Volunteers will also be invited to participate in all workshops we organize, as well as those hosted by partner civil society organizations we closely work with.

Profil uczestnika

We are looking for a motivated, responsible and empathetic person who is eager to support people on the move and engage in meaningful solidarity work. The volunteer should enjoy working in a multicultural and dynamic environment. You don’t need to have previous experience in the field of human rights or migration but should be interested in these topics and eager to learn more about them. The ideal volunteer is someone who feels comfortable working in a team and who is open to taking on a variety of tasks; from helping out in our social self-service Free Shop (sorting donations, working directly with beneficiaries), to supporting employment workshops (writing CVs, motivational letters), organizing intercultural events or creating content for our social media networks. We're looking for someone who is: • Respectful and kind in working with others • Flexible and able to adapt to new situations • Interested in migration and human rights • Motivated to support people from different backgrounds • Interested in contributing to a more inclusive and just society
