ENGIM has been operating in Ecuador since 2005 with the aim of promoting the integral development of communities in vulnerable situations. The project is part of the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) sector and seeks to ensure rural communities sustainable access to drinking water through the participatory design and construction of community aqueducts. The volunteer will support the technical team in the following activities: - Collecting topographic data and analyzing water sources; - Supporting the technical design of community aqueducts; - Strengthening relationships and collaboration with beneficiary communities; - Facilitating the creation and training of Water Committees for community water management; - Coordinating community workdays and supporting the logistical management of activities (e.g., pipe installation, material handling, mechanical filtration setup).
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
Volunteers will be accommodated in a shared apartment or guesthouse in a community near the project area. Basic utilities such as electricity, water, and internet access will be available, though service may be intermittent due to contingencies. A monthly allowance of €800 will be provided, covering daily expenses, food and local transport. A laptop will be provided, and reimbursement for mobile phone expenses is included.

Perfil do participante
We are looking for a motivated person willing to live in a rural or peri-urban area, which is isolated and offers limited opportunities for leisure. The area presents some security challenges, requiring a modest lifestyle and strict adherence to safety protocols. A strong inclination for fieldwork is essential, including in demanding and unpredictable weather conditions. Education & Training: Degree or technical training in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, Architecture or similar fields; Additional training in WASH, water resource management, or community participation is an asset. Skills & Competencies: Basic technical knowledge in water systems and project management; Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills; Willingness to work in rural areas and within multidisciplinary teams; Proactivity, adaptability, and problem-solving attitude. Language & Technical Skills: Good knowledge of Spanish (minimum level B2); Basic knowledge of technical tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, QGIS, Excel); Proficiency in MS Office / Google Workspace; familiarity with KoboToolbox or similar data‑collection apps desirable. Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
