The power of together

Vol Team 2: Solidarity Strategy Lab

Foundation "Situational Center Open Doors"

Sofia, Bulgaria

Description

Five Ukrainian participants of the Erasmus Solidarity Corps will join forces to develop effective, data-driven support initiatives for Ukrainian refugees in Bulgaria. The activity centers on strategic planning, research, and quality assurance. We will: Brainstorm high-impact local activities. Review successful practices on the Erasmus+ platform and compare them with projects in other European countries. Conduct strategic sessions to shape new interventions. Test and improve systems for project monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to ensure lasting impact and accountability. Try new tools and ways of dessimination practicies.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

All volunteers will be housed in a fully furnished shared residence near the FSCOD centre. Accommodation provides private bedrooms and shared kitchen/bathroom facilities. A single monthly allowance is budgeted to cover all essentials: food, pocket money, and local transport. The apartment is located in a safe, accessible district of Sofia, ideal for exploring the capital. Finally, travel costs for the international journey will be reimbursed in line with Erasmus program standards.

Training during the activity

Preparatory pre-deaprture training follows with a structured on-arrival induction delivered by the Open Doors staff, providing a comprehensive overview of FSCOD's mission and ongoing initiatives. Furthermore, a short mid-term gathering is anticipated, supported by the Bulgarian National Agency, to review progress. Specialized skill development will cover crucial topics such as event coordination, non-violent communication (NVC), and intercultural competence. Throughout their tenure at FSCOD, volunteers will benefit from continuous mentorship and guidance, facilitated via regular team meetings.

Participant profile

We are seeking five motivated individuals aged 18-30 from Ukraine who identify as having the strong potential to support the civil activism and European values. These volunteers should possess a strong enthusiasm for social inclusion, cultural exchange, and community engagement. The project requires candidates with strong communication skills and a genuine willingness to learn and contribute to the overall strategic overview. A keen interest in the refugee sector is essential, coupled with a passion for working with vulnerable communities and youth. The work will heavily involve informal and non-formal education activities focused on career empowerment for migrants.
