Description
Do you have a heart for animals? Are you passionate about teaching people how to treat and take care for their animals? And do you want to find new forever homes for stray animals? Help the organisation Alga in their mission to improve animal welfare in Chișinău, Moldova. Alga is an organisation dedicated to the protection and welfare of animals, aiming to educate and inspire communities to adopt and respect animals. Furthermore, they advocate for sustainable solutions to reduce the amount of stray animals. As a volunteer you will help them in this mission by supporting them in their three main activities: 1) sterilisation campaigns, 2) support for responsible pet adoption, 3) public education and outreach on animal welfare. The start date and duration are flexible.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Volunteers are accommodated in shared apartments together with other international or local volunteers. Each volunteer has their own private room, while the kitchen, bathroom, and common spaces are shared. The apartments are of a comfortable, middle-class standard and located in safe areas of Chișinău. Volunteers receive a monthly food allowance, which allows them to buy and prepare their own meals. In some cases, they may also eat at the orgnization during project activities. Volunteers receive a transport allowance to cover daily commuting costs.
Training during the activity
During the voluntary service the volunteer receives support and guidance from a supervisor. Furthermore, the volunteer will participate in an on-arrival training.
Participant profile
We are open to hosting volunteers from diverse backgrounds. No specific qualifications are required — motivation, openness, and interest in the project’s topic are most important. We encourage volunteers whose interests align with the project’s goals, but adaptability and a willingness to learn are key. We only accept volunteers with a Dutch nationality or volunteers that are a resident in the Netherlands.
