Description
Regenerative Hospitality & Rural Living engages young Europeans in hands-on and civic sustainability learning at Mundekulla, a regenerative ecolodge, conference &retreat centre in southern Sweden. Participants experience how environmental, social, and economic sustainability interconnect within a regenerative enterprise rooted in EU values of democracy, inclusion, and solidarity. Activities, focused on on-the-job learning, include five pillars: Regenerative Hospitality, Agroforestry, Vegetarian & Vegan Cooking, Farm Maintenance and Sustainable Forestry, guided by professionals in respective areas. Off-the-job activities are organised within the volunteer group and supported by a program Lead who facilitates reflection, intercultural exchange and personal growth. Volunteers develop Sustainability skills, leadership capacity, and an understanding of responsible entrepreneurship while contributing directly to SDGs 4, 12, 13, and 15.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
Participants are housed either in the on-site volunteer building or in a house in neaby village, accessible via a 5-minute bike ride or 15-minute walk. Each participant is provided with a bicycle and helmet. The accommodations include private bedrooms, shared kitchens, and shared bathrooms. The closest train station is in Emmaboda, 12 km from Mundekulla. Participants can use company car to get to the train station when traveling for weekend or vacations. Mundekulla serves vegetarian/vegan food. Meals will be either served in restaurant or cooked by participants themselves.
Training during the activity
Workshops and on-the-job training in five areas: Regenerative Hospitality, Agroforestry, Vegetarian & Vegan Cooking, Farm Maintenance and Sustainable Forestry Mentoring by external independent mentor Excursions to visit other sustainable projects within the local community Training organised and delivered by MUCF A few cultural excursions, which may include visits to art exhibitions, a local glass factory, and historical sites.
Participant profile
EU citizen 18-29 years old with interest in Regenerative Hospitality, Agroforestry, Vegetarian & Vegan Cooking, Farm Maintenance and Sustainable Forestry. The candidate should be ready to community living / team work with other volunteers (total group is 8 participants) We are open for welcoming participants with fewer opportunities (barriers linked to discrimination or education; cultural differences; economic or social barriers, etc)
