The Architect will support in the technical leadership and oversight for the design, rehabilitation, and construction of project infrastructure. S/He will support to ensure that all construction activities meet national standards, sector norms, donor compliance requirements, and principles of safety, accessibility, and sustainability. The role includes conducting assessments, preparing architectural designs and technical documentation, supporting procurement processes, supervising contractors, and ensuring high-quality implementation within timelines and budgets. Main tasks: - To review the design, drawings and contracts for the different constructions and/or rehabilitations to be made. - To draft and design TOR for contractor and support the bidding process. - To supervise the different constructions and/or rehabilitations of public health centers in Koinadugu’s district. - Develop detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, and materials lists.

Kabala is a calm and relatively safe town, offering a peaceful environment for work and daily life. The general atmosphere is friendly, and the community is welcoming. The work will take place at the MdM Sierra Leone base office that is located at Koinadugu district. The volunteer will then be accommodated in the organization's guesthouse. The volunteer will regularly receive information, support, & materials (laptop & phone) and transportation necessary for performing the functions assigned to them. You will receive a monthly subsistence allowance of 487€ to cover basic personal needs.

Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit

Volunteers will improve their professional knowledge through training in humanitarian action, and specific issues on security, gender, psychosocial support and will be provided with training resources to continue their learning. Those selected will receive briefings/training at MdM headquarters in Madrid with the different departments related to the mission and the position, as well as mandatory online training on security before they start their field work. Training sessions will take place both in the countries of the support organisations and host organisations. 

Teilnehmerprofil

- Degree and experience as Architect / Civil Engineer. - Knowledge in human rights, gender, public health, sexual and reproductive health. - Fluent in English. - Ability to work independently. - Flexibility, dynamism, proactivity and adaptation. - Teamwork capacity. - Capacity of facilitating trainings and workshops. - Experience in the International Development sector. - Identification with the lines of work, values and mission of Médicos del Mundo. Eligibility : Candidates must be 18 to 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Turkey), have completed the compulsory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training and not have participated before in individual Humanitarian Aid Volunteering. When adding together this new volunteering opportunity and any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration cannot exceed 12 months.
