Descrição
Assalam Community Foundation (ACF) in Zanzibar hosts volunteers to support education, community outreach, and permaculture activities in underserved communities. Volunteers contribute to educational programs for children and youth, vocational training for women, environmental actions, and cultural exchange initiatives. Activities include teaching and facilitating workshops in science, arts, sports, leadership, and entrepreneurship, supporting permaculture gardens, tree planting, beach cleaning, and food aid. Volunteers work at ACF’s campus in Kizimkazi and through outreach programs across Zanzibar, reaching children, youth, women, and orphans in remote villages. The project promotes peace, sustainability, empowerment, and social inclusion, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Volunteers receive training, mentoring, and ongoing support while gaining hands-on experience in education, community development, and sustainable practices in a multicultural environment.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
Volunteers are accommodated in shared rooms (3–4 people per room) on the ACF campus, with WiFi access and no distance between accommodation and workplace. All meals are fully provided by ACF, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with tea, coffee, and water available throughout the day. Volunteers are picked up from Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) by ACF and transported to the project site. Local transport for personal travel during free time is at the volunteer’s own expense.
Formação durante a atividade
During the activity, volunteers will receive task-specific training in teaching and facilitation skills, vocational training support, permaculture and sustainable agriculture, and event and workshop management. In addition, personal and professional development training is provided in entrepreneurship and leadership, intercultural communication and teamwork, and humanitarian principles and community development. Volunteers also benefit from ongoing mentorship, weekly evaluations, and continuous support throughout their volunteering period.
