From Solidarity to Action
Service national de la jeunesse
Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Description
Through planned activities, the participants will learn the understanding of inclusion of people with disabilities and how it can be lived. In small groups or individually, they will have the possibility do discover the everyday life in institutions and how their day is organised. The participants will be given the opportunity to assist the staff in their daily routines. The first three days will be dedicated to an on-arrival training. During this training, the volunteers will get to know each other, as well as the supervisors. The second and third week, the focus is on inclusion. The participants will have the chance to discover the life in diverse institutions where people with disabilities live, work and support the staff members on a daily basis. They will be divided in small groups or as an individual, so they can discover and get to know the people and the institutions. After that week, volunteers are invited to plan and implement activities themselves.
Accommodation, food and transport arrangements
The volunteers will be lodged in three different Youth Hostels. During the OAT, food will be provided and prepared together. During the rest of the project, it will be provided at the Youth Hostel. On the free days, the participants will receive a food allowance. The participants are supposed to self-organise and pre-finance their travel to the venue with the support of the sending organization. The individual budgets available will be determined by the rules of the ESC guide. Travel costs will be reimbursed after the arrival in Luxembourg.
Training during the activity
