Descrição
Project SOLARIC seeks 1 volunteer willing to spend 6 months supporting community centers for children with special educational needs in Nansana, Uganda. The volunteers will be hosted by Uganda Pioneers Association and join the local teams working at two community centers - Centre for Special Abilities (CeSA) and Doreah Child Care Uganda (DCCU). CeSA works with dyslexic children, DCCU with children with sensory and mobility impairments. Team SOLARIC wishes to contribute to a society in which children with special needs can grow and develop to their full potential for independent living. The volunteers will join different educational and leisure activities, e.g. preparing materials for the learning process, assisting with indoor and outdoor games, engaging children with enjoyable literature – reading, storytelling and writing, and organizing music, dance and drama workshops.

Volunteers are in charge of their own grocery shopping, cooking and manage their own food allowance. Volunteers can walk, use a taxi or the famous boda boda (hired motorcycles) daily to and from the service centers.

Upon arrival in Uganda they will join a 3-day orientation session with UPA and a subsequent 1-day mid-term online sessions with the project team.
