This one is for history and nature enthusiastics! In this project a team of five (5) volunteers will work in the core activities of the local association in the small rural village of Lampinsaari in Northern Ostrobothnia, Finland. During its heydays, the zinc mine in the village was the largest in Europe. Today the story deserves to be told to new generations. Volunteers will participate in preserving and celebrating local history. Lampinsaari attracts people with beautiful nature and tranquility. Volunteers will maintain local nature trails by eg. removing vegetation and clearing debris to ensure safe access. In addition, they will plan and implement community activities. Volunteers' tasks include e.g. implementation of events to highlight local history handling of historical artefacts maintenance of nature trails and recreational venues creating activities with local residents

Beitrag zu Unterbringung, Verpflegung und Reisekosten

Volunteers live in a house. Volunteers will have either personal or shared rooms. The house has a full kitchen and bathroom. Volunteers will receive food money to prepare meals by themselves. The main work tasks take place within walking distance. Volunteers will have a possibility to use bikes. Other transportation will be provided if needed. Train and bus stations with connections to other cities locate approx 10km away.

Fortbildung im Rahmen der Tätigkeit

Volunteers will participate in the on-arrival training. Task related support and mentoring will be provided.

Teilnehmerprofil

We would like to receive active volunteers who are motivated to work together with local community. Some of the tasks are done outdoors so volunteers need to be prepared to work despite the weather.
