Education support officer in Uganda

NGO MONDO

UGANDA PIONEERS ASSOCIATION

KAMPALA, Uganda

Descrição

Join Uganda Pioneers Association and Mondo in a rewarding role aimed at transforming education in a rural community school. As a volunteer, you will lead workshops and training sessions to strengthen school management by equipping teachers with innovative practical and theoretical teaching methods. You will support subject teachers across diverse disciplines, raising community awareness on the vital importance of education. Your role also includes sourcing partnerships to enrich the school library with learning materials, organizing and supervising extracurricular activities, and ensuring students enjoy a well-rounded, holistic education. Moreover, you will actively contribute to the success of Mondo’s community projects, supporting both primary and secondary schools through continuous follow-up and engagement.

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

Volunteers will stay at Villa Mamu, Mengo, Kampala, a spacious compound with WiFi, warm showers, kitchen facilities for self-catering, and pets to make the stay homely. To immerse more deeply into the local culture, volunteers will spend some days living with a host family near Kikooba School. Other accommodation options can be arranged in Kampala based on safety, convenience, and security considerations. Local transport primarily consists of boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis), which provide fast and flexible movement within the community.

Formação durante a atividade

As part of the BRIDGE Project (Building Resilience, Innovation, Development, and Gender Equality), volunteers will work toward empowering vulnerable communities, especially women. Training includes skills development workshops, digital literacy enhancement, participation in UN Women Summits, and facilitating digital training sessions. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and social impact-driven project execution while refining leadership and communication skills.

Perfil do participante

We are looking for candidates with a university degree in education, social work, or community development, and experience in teaching or developing educational materials. Familiarity with managing community libraries and working with vulnerable groups is highly valued. Experience liaising with government education agencies is a plus. Candidates should be proficient in English (both written and spoken) and comfortable with computer tools such as MS Office. An interest in digital media—social platforms, websites, or graphic design—is warmly welcomed. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you will navigate local realities including food differences, language barriers, and intermittent internet connectivity. Creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds are essential qualities for success.
