Europäischer Freiwilligendienst im ZFP in Ostbelgien

Zentrum für Förderpädagogik

Eupen, Bélgica

Descrição

We can host up to 5 volunteers through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). One placement is based in a homework school in Eupen, where volunteers will work with children with migration backgrounds. 3 additional placements are located in ZFP primary schools in St. Vith, Bütgenbach, and Eupen, focusing on supporting children with disabilities. The final placement is in our ZFP secondary school and boarding school, where volunteers will work with young people with disabilities. St. Vith and Bütgenbach are situated in a rural area close to Luxembourg, while Eupen is a small town near the borders with Germany and the Netherlands. Our organization is based in East Belgium, right in the heart of Europe. The region is characterized by a rich cultural life shaped by its linguistic and cultural diversity. Most people are bilingual in German-French. Good German skills are essential for volunteers, as we aim to avoid creating any additional language barriers for the children.

Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte

The ZFP provides suitable accommodation. Volunteers receive a Train+ pass, allowing discounted train travel throughout Belgium, and an annual bus subscription valid across the German- and French-speaking parts of Belgium (except Brussels), including local transport in Eupen and surroundings. Bicycles are also provided to explore the area. In addition, the centre offers meals or a food allowance, including during holidays. The allowance is paid to the volunteer on a monthly basis.

Formação durante a atividade

The ZFP ensures the participation of the volunteers in the on-arrial training (during september) and mid-term evaluation (during january) organised by the National Agency or SALTO.

Perfil do participante

We welcome young people aged 18 to 30. Applicants should enjoy working with children or young people, either with special needs or with a migration background. No prior experience in working with persons with disabilities is required, but an open attitude, good communication skills, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are essential. Good knowledge of German (spoken and written) is required. Knowledge of French is an asset, but not a requirement
