HOPE WITHOUT BORDERS: Volunteer Ambassador 2026 / 2027

Caritas Sofia

Sofia, Bulgarie

Description

Caritas Sofia brings new hope to different groups, including refugees from the Middle East and Ukraine, Roma children, homeless people, youth with disabilities, abandoned elderly, children at risk, and others. We achieve this through a network of dedicated centres and administrative support—there is a lot of work, and we need help on all fronts. You will have the opportunity to both contribute and learn. The volunteer should commit to the full duration (approximately 11 months). Currently, we are looking for a highly motivated volunteer to join our team in Sofia and take an active role in promoting volunteering. As a Volunteer Ambassador, you will promote volunteering and inspire others to get involved, especially through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). This includes organizing events, networking, and leading initiatives such as Young Caritas activities

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

Accommodation in a shared room in shared flat, in a green and quiet Sofia area. Rent, electricity, water and internet are covered. Travel expenses -- international (to arrive and depart) and local (within Bulgaria, related to the service) -- are reimbursed to the participant. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance for pocket money expenses and food expenses, in a local bank account: 14 EUR per day. The ammount will be payed monthly so for example: 30 day month is 420 EUR. Additional support is available for participants with fewer opportunities.

Formation pendant l’activité

Training such as language support will be provided through the OLS, and additional on-site training (e.g. safeguarding) will be mandatory. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to take part in various personal development trainings based on their interests. They will gain hands-on experience, learning from our specialists while developing social, technical, and organizational skills. Volunteers will also become familiar with Caritas safeguarding standards and gain knowledge in a range of areas depending on their role

Profil du participant

We are looking for motivated young people who are eager to engage in social work and contribute to meaningful community support activities. The ideal participants are open-minded, adaptable, and interested in working with people from diverse backgrounds. Volunteers should be comfortable working in multicultural environments and motivated to support vulnerable groups such as refugees, children, elderly people, people experiencing homelessness, and members of the Romani community. No specific professional experience is required, but previous involvement in volunteering, social activities, youth work, communication, logistics, or similar fields is considered an advantage. We welcome participants who are: Motivated to learn and develop new skills Open to teamwork and cooperation Responsible, reliable, and proactive Interested in social inclusion and solidarity work Ready to take initiative and contribute ideas Depending on the role, additional skills may be beneficial (e.g. driving license for outreach roles, communication skills for media roles, or creativity for educational and social activities). Above all, we are looking for people who are committed to the full duration of the project and who are eager to make a positive impact while gaining valuable personal and professional experience.
