About us 

Caritas Sofia supports people in vulnerable situations through a network of centers and teams. 

The role Help tell our stories and encourage young people to volunteer and join the European Solidarity Corps. 

What you’ll do

 - Visit our centres and meet participants and staff - Gather stories, photos and videos, following our safeguarding, privacy and consent procedures 

- Create social media posts and short videos - Share your volunteering experience 

- Develop communication and outreach initiatives with team support What you’ll learn With guidance and feedback from the team, you’ll develop skills in content creation, respectful storytelling and promoting volunteering. 

No professional experience is required, but curiosity, reliability and willingness to learn and contribute are important.

This is a learning role. You’ll develop skills in social media, content creation, photography, communication, events and teamwork,while gaining insight into social work and volunteering.

Logi, mat och transporter

Accommodation in a shared room in shared flat, in a green and quiet Sofia area. Rent, electricity, water and internet are covered. Travel expenses -- international (to arrive and depart) and local (within Bulgaria, related to the service) -- are reimbursed to the participant. The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance for pocket money expenses and food expenses, in a local bank account: 14 EUR per day. The ammount will be payed monthly so for example: 30 day month is 420 EUR. Additional support is available for participants with fewer opportunities.

Utbildning under verksamheten

Training such as language support will be provided through the OLS, and additional on-site training (e.g. safeguarding) will be mandatory. In addition, volunteers will have the opportunity to take part in various personal development trainings based on their interests. They will gain hands-on experience, learning from our specialists while developing social, technical, and organizational skills. Volunteers will also become familiar with Caritas safeguarding standards and gain knowledge in a range of areas depending on their role

Deltagarens profil

We are looking for a motivated young person who is curious, open-minded, adaptable, and willing to learn. Previous professional experience in communication or social media is not required. Experience in volunteering, youth work, communication, social media, photography/video, organizing events, or similar activities is an advantage, but potential, motivation, and willingness to develop are more important.

The role may be a good fit for you if you:

• enjoy communicating with people and are interested in their stories;

• are interested in social media, communication, volunteering, and social causes;

• are willing to try new things and learn from feedback;

• are creative and like developing your own ideas;

• are responsible, reliable, and able to take initiative;

• are comfortable working in a multicultural environment and with people from different backgrounds;

• are interested in supporting vulnerable groups, including refugees, children, elderly people, people experiencing homelessness, people with disabilities, and members of the Romani community;

• are ready to work as part of a team while gradually becoming more independent;
