Climate Resilience and Disaster Preparedness Volunteer
NGO MONDO
MERKURI
ZUGDIDI, Geórgia
Descrição
This volunteering opportunity is suited to someone interested in community engagement, climate resilience, and disaster preparedness. The volunteer will support local activities that help communities better understand environmental risks and improve preparedness for floods, extreme weather, and other climate-related challenges. Tasks may include helping organise workshops, discussions, awareness-raising events, and small community initiatives, as well as supporting communication with participants, preparing simple materials, and assisting with documentation and feedback collection. The volunteer will work closely with local communities, especially active residents and women, in a practical and people-centred environment. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute to resilience-building while gaining hands-on experience in community work, local participation, and climate-related action.
Comparticipação nas despesas de alojamento, alimentação e transporte
The volunteer will be accommodated in Zugdidi in a host family, in a private house with a separate individual room and access to shared facilities such as a kitchen, a bathroom, and a washing machine. A monthly subsistence allowance will be provided to cover food and personal expenses. Local transport costs will be reimbursed up to the agreed monthly limit. Visa fees, insurance, and one round-trip international ticket will be covered by the sending organisation.
Formação durante a atividade
This opportunity is part of the RISE project (Reinforcing Inclusion through Solidarity and Empowerment), which offers volunteers the possibility to engage in local languages classes or intercultural activities, and benefit from three sides of mentoring (from the supporting organisation, the hosting organisation, and an alumni volunteer). Prior to the deployment, volunteers will go through pre-departure training activities. Once on the field, the volunteers will go through a welcome induction with Merkuri.
