Description

AFS Vivre Sans Frontière is a French non-for-profit organization and member of the AFS Intercultural Programs network. Its mission is to encourage intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding for a more just and peaceful world. AFS France is looking for 2 volunteers to assist our diverse Intercultural Learning projects. Their main mission will be to organize and facilitate intercultural learning workshops in cooperation with AFS volunteers, for external partners (mainly schools) all over France. These workshops, based on non-formal education methods, cover topics such as intercultural communication, stereotypes, and generalizations. Main responsibilities include: - Organizing and facilitating intercultural workshops in French (and sometimes in English). - Contacting volunteers and partner schools to present and organize the workshops. - Contributing to other projects based on the teams’ needs and/or the volunteers’ interests.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Volunteering hours: 30 hours per week. The activity requires frequent travel by train across all regions of France, where the volunteers ESC will be supported and hosted by AFS’s network of local volunteers. Expenses covered by AFS France under the ESC programme : - Round-trip transport from your country to France - Health insurance and liability insurance - Pocket money and food allowance - Accommodation in a private studio in Paris - Local transportation

Training during the activity

- French online language support provided by ESC – EU Academy, and in-person French classes if available. - AFS Global Up Abroad intercultural learning: interactive online program developing intercultural skills and global citizenship through collaborative digital learning. - On-site and virtual training in intercultural learning and non-formal workshop facilitation. - Youthpass Certification to validate acquired transversal skills.

Participant profile

- Strong interest in intercultural learning and global citizenship education. - Comfortable with public speaking in front of pupils and conducting virtual conferences. Comfortable to reach out and engage with teachers. - Comfortable with digital tools, such as GoogleOffice. - Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable person with an eagerness to learn. - A good level of French is recommended, as most facilitation workshops will take place in French. - Comfortable with traveling independently in France and being hosted by local AFS volunteers. - Ability to work as part of a small team. - Good organizational skills and ability to manage travel and logistics. - High flexibility is essential, both in terms of working hours (occasional evening travel) and in adapting to field work. - Commitment to AFS’s mission and values.
