Description

ActionAid aims to promote active citizenship that fights against inequalities and advocates for the recognition of human rights. The organization carries out development cooperation and educational projects to eradicate gender-based violence, defend the rights of migrants, and promote climate justice. Join us at our office in Kolda, Senegal! During this 2-month volunteering experience, you will support local teams in a variety of activities, including awareness-raising campaigns, community events, communication and visibility actions, environmental initiatives, workshops with women’s groups and youth associations, as well as the documentation of good practices and project results. This volunteering experience combines field activities, learning opportunities, and cultural exchange, allowing volunteers to make a positive contribution to local initiatives while developing personal, social, and professional skills.

Modalités d'hébergement, de restauration et de transport

You will have the opportunity to live with five other volunteers in a shared apartment. The accommodation includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Accommodation and utility costs will be covered by the organization, and a local SIM card will be provided. You will receive a monthly allowance of €468 to cover your personal expenses, including food and local transportation. A vehicle will be provided for ActionAid activities. In addition, you will be covered by medical insurance (Henner).

Formation pendant l’activité

Volunteers will receive pre-departure training on the ESC programme, introduction to our organization, roles and responsibilities, SHEA and safeguarding, feminist leadership, communication, security, self-care, and psychological support. On-site training will cover the local context, partners, security, ongoing projects and the roles and responsibilities of each team. Throughout the experience, volunteers will develop knowledge and skills in gender and entrepreneurship, sustainability, agroecology, and communication.

Profil du participant

We are looking for 6 motivated people eager to learn, work in a team, adapt to new contexts, engage in cultural exchange, and live a collective experience! Interest in human rights, sustainability, international cooperation, and gender justice will be highly valued. Previous volunteering experience is appreciated but not mandatory. If you are a migrant, live in a rural area, have limited financial support, or face any other challenging situation, do not hesitate to apply — this opportunity is open to everyone! Eligibility: Candidates must be 18 and 35 years old, reside in one of the eligible countries (EU Member State, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Turkey), and have completed the mandatory Humanitarian Aid Volunteering training. In addition, when combined with any previous participation in EU volunteering programmes, the total duration of volunteering activities cannot exceed 12 months.
